"COVID 19" has thrown a lot of hurdles our way over the past few months. All of the closings and cancellations have made it to where we have had to change almost every aspect of our "day to day" lives. Along with these changes comes an overwhelming rise in stress levels.

Stress can come in many different forms, no matter the circumstances, whether it's school, work, or extracurricular activities. For most people, there are no specific steps that they can follow in order to reduce their stress, but there are some universal techniques that can work for anyone. Here are some tips to get you started:

-Figure out what is causing the stress. Acknowledging what is causing the stress will allow you to make changes to your lifestyle.

-Take care of yourself. Go for a walk, make sure you get enough sleep at night, or take some alone time.

-Connect with others. Having a good support group allows you to be able to have someone to talk to in order to lower your stress or anxiety.

-Get to know your surroundings and the people with you. Meeting and establishing relationships with new colleagues or other new people in your life can help you feel more comfortable and less stressed.

Stress Relief

Simple Steps to Help Relieve Stress

By Megan Angliss

-Make time for fun and relaxation. Taking time out of your schedule to hang out with friends or go to fun events is a great way to relax.

-Manage your time. A good way to stop stress from building is to make sure you are giving yourself a schedule that is not too demanding. If you try to force too many activities into a short period of time then you will find yourself overwhelmed and ultimately stressed out.

-Learn techniques to help relieve stress in the moment. Whether this means taking a break from what you are doing or just stepping away for some air, relieving stress during the moment can help keep stress levels down in the future.

These tips are just the start of relieving stress. A good thing to remember is to handle your stress before it gets to the point where you can’t take it anymore. Once you reach this point it can be hard to go back.

Here at Grand Blanc High School, the student store by the cafeteria is very well known and well-liked. However many of the students attending GBHS are not aware that there is also a student store in our very own library. The library staff has dedicated cabinet space to house any items that students may need during their school day. Items that are included in the student store vary and the cost is low. Some of these items include headphones, lanyards, calculators, envelopes, pencils, pens, note cards, and even batteries. The highest-priced item that they sell is the Chromebook charger, which only cost 11 dollars. The purpose of the student store is to help make sure that students come to school ready and willing to learn with all the materials they may need. Students are more than welcome and encouraged to come to the library and purchase any items they may need to further their learning experience.
